Updated & Expanded Edition of Under the Overpass

It is with great excitement that I announce the release of a brand new, Updated and Expanded, 5th Anniversary Edition of Under the Overpass! This new version has been in the works for more than a year, and is being officially released this week! Woo Hoo!

This updated version of the book includes several new things:
-A new foreword from Francis Chan, author of Crazy Love
-Untold Stories from Sam's & my journey on the streets
-A new "Interview with the Author" section
-A new epilogue titled "Five Years On"

The hope with this new edition is to provide a more complete picture of both our time on the streets as well as a bit of a look at what life has been like since Under the Overpass was first released back in 2005. I hope you'll be able to check it out, and that you'll help spread the word to others.

On a more personal note, it's incredible to me that five years have passed since Under the Overpass first came out. How time flies! Back in May, 2005, I had just graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and hadn't yet married Danae. Now we've just celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary, have co-edited a new book together (Zealous Love) and are full time grad students up in Vancouver, B.C. at Regent College. Under the Overpass is being made into a movie, and who knows what is coming next!

Since the release of Under the Overpass my heart for and desire to advocate on behalf of the "least of these" has only continued to grow. The memories of panhandling on the streets of Portland, or trying to stay dry and warm while sleeping in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco are just as vivid as they were when Sam and I had just come off the streets. Thus I continue to travel and speak trying to raise awareness about the plight of our world's poor, advocating for a Christ-centered response to our world's great needs.

So, I hope you can check out the new version of the book (it's available online or at your local Christian bookstore), and that in reading this new version of Under the Overpass you will seek all the more to fulfill the Great Commandment: to Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself.

Grace and Peace.

-Mike
