I have been hearing a calling, a tugging at my heart for a while now and wasnt sure (but had a hunch) what it was. The only Christians in my life are my grandparents and I just talked with my grandmother and she is SURE it is Jesus trying to come into my life and heart. I am confused, having had some odd feelings about religion in the past, but I can feel His presence and know that now is the time to accept him into my heart and life. And I am scared...confused...bewildered...and hopeful. I read this book and it reaffirmed my idea of what that feeling in me was. I have always been called to helping people. It was more than just liking to...I was called and made to do it. I hold a degree in human services and work with acutley mentally ill patients on a unit at a psych hospital. I was moved by the book and have talked my 73 yr old Grammy into reading it! I just came by here to be counted as one of the many who loved the book but also with a second purpose. Does anyone have any words or ideas on how I can keep moving on my path to Jesus? I LOVE to read so are there any books that I might want to check out? I just needed to reach out! I am a bit older than most on this sight probably (30) but age isnt really a factor here.

Thank you for making a difference and opening some eyes!

Hey jksmom99:

It is so exciting to hear of your responding to the calling and tugging of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus has great plans for you, and has been waiting for you to respond.
God's Word says in Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Also in Philippians 2:13
"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."

Our God has a plan and a purpose all set out for your life, and He has placed the potential within you to fulfill His plan and He will work through you until His plan is complete.

Regarding reading, the best Book is the Bible. If you have not yet begun, start to read the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament. It is a short Gospel and is profound in teaching more of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis is a fantastic book to get into, also "God Chasers" by Tommey Tenney.

One good way to begin, is to tell our Lord Jesus you need Him in your life, and to ask Him to forgive you of your sin and to guide you. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how He desires you to live, and to give you understanding as you read the Bible.

Again, I really get excited and fired up hearing you wanting to have your life move on with Jesus, and when I hear the desire of your heart to serve Him.
I sure would like to read in the future of how you are doing, and what the Lord is doing in your life and through your life to bless others, so please write again in the near future.

By the way, the age factor, I'm 60, and I don't think I am too old, or even old. I'm out on the streets ministering to people of all ages, including teens, and involved with people of all ages in an outreach ministry at our home church.

God Bless You jksmom99, and I really am looking forward to reading from you soon.

Hello jksmom99

Glad to hear that you are considering giving your life to Christ! As far as book are concerned I would start by reading the book of Genesis. It is probably my favorite book, and it shows why we are in need of Christ! Luke is my favorite gospel account as it seems to be the most detailed and I am a detailed oriented person. For an extra-Biblical book to read I recommend "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Hi! I'm so excited for you! I'm only 14 so the books I like may not be your taste. I've started to read a few Max Lucado books and theyre pretty good. And if you like fiction I've heard that Frank Perretti has some good books. God Bless!
