Hey my name is Cheree, I'm 20 years old and I'm a student Multnomah Bible College.

The first chance I got, I rushed in the front door of Multnomah's Bookstore excited to find and buy a copy of Under the Overpass. My mom had read excerpts of the book while I was in the hospital last summer and it deeply touched me, I couldn't wait to read the book in its entirety!

Well, I just gabboled up the final pages this afternoon and I'm full!
WoW! What a terrific book----

About 5 months ago, I had just started my stem-cell transplant and high-dosage chemotherapy. I remember one day I was sitting in a leather recliner/rocking chair hooked up to my I.V., rocking back and forth. My mom was in the middle of the book and I asked her to read outloud.
I was so engaged. I listened intently, as I rocked back and forth, and almost forgot I was in the hospital.
Mom continued to read.
The chemo had me weak, but the story of the hypocrisy of some of the church had me holding my stomach.
“This is making me sick” I remember saying.
“Do you want me to stop” my mom asked concerned.
“Oh no keep reading maybe there will be a turn of events!”
I remember my delighted relief when mom read the part about how Russ and James helped Mike and Sam so extraordinarily! I smiled and cheered with my mom as we read. “Finally good news,” we said! I praised the Lord for His work through them and prayed for some of the other characters presented in the book. That was definitely a highlight of my hospital spent summer.

Well, I'm glad to have Under the Overpass in my personal library now! It sure has inspired in me a greater heart for the homeless and I'm sure it will continue to be used to impact lives as I share my copy!

Live out Loud,
