Just want to share a story about God's will. A couple of months ago Mike came to a local catholic church to speak.(I'm not catholic) He came to our typical conservative suburban neighborhood to tell us of his experiences. His daring story interested me. And challenged me to not ignore the needs of our fellow children of God. I have always wanted to be more involved in our local community needs. But, in my hometown, I have never even seen a homeless person. I ended up getting his book and I started to read it. This past Tuesday night, I woke up after sleeping an hour and could not get back to sleep.(never happens) So, I picked up the book and finished it at 4:30 AM. The next day I was driving and low and behold there is an obvious homeless man in my hometown! Couldn't have been more obvious, he was head to toe in a bright yellow rainsuit. Next thing I know, I'm sitting on the same bench talking to him. I asked him how he was doing, he seemed just fine. (could have said hi and left) Traveling through with his "pack mule". It did litterally look like a pack mule. A bike fully loaded with a trailer. I asked him if he needed a place to stay and his eyes lit up. My minivan happened to be completely empty so we loaded up and went to a local hotel. I got him a room for the night. He didn't seem like trouble and did not smell of alchohol. Couldn't get into too much trouble anyways because we live in a "dry" town. I kept it simple, didn't ask many questions, and left, not planning to return. Wouldn't you know it, we had one of the worst spring storms in a long time that night. I woke up at 6:17AM to hail pelting my bedroom window. Of course I couln't stop thinking of Phillip. I laid in bed knowing that I would be having breakfast with him. Phillip left today walking his bike and on his way to Florida. Coincidence? I think not!
