Being a sixteen year old girl and still in high school, I see a lot of things that let me know the needs of our world.I go to a public school, and only recently have I been exposed to (or maybe just become more aware of?) the problems that lie within each kid in my school.

I just finished Under the Overpass and am sure that the small tug on my heart to go into the mission field is one that is from God and that I need to follow up on it. But as I started thinking and praying about it, I felt the need to get started right away. My first thought was, "where can a sixteen year old girl get a plane ticket alone to the nearest third-world country?" I knew that would be almost impossible. And the more ideas I came up with, the more frusterated I got because I really felt God calling me, but it didn't seem like He was providing a way for me to do anything.

I prayed before I went to school today, that maybe while I was at school, I would hear God saying something to me. Maybe a place He specifically wanted me to go, or a church that could provide me with a mission trip to take. I continued praying as I walked down the main hallway of my school. And that's when I heard God say that He had put me right where he wanted me. I was in the perfect mission field everyday. The students that crowed the same halls as me were the ones that I could reach out to because I could relate to them. I needed to be Jesus to these people everday. If not in my words, then in my actions, and the way I lived my life.

I pray that everyday God will give me someone to reach out to and someone who will wonder what makes my life a joyful one in the everyday depression that surrounds a high school. My hope is that as you read this amazing book, and read other's testimonies as well as my own, that you will pray for God to help you see how you, too, can be an everyday Jesus to the people in your life.

God Bless!

You go, girl! The public high school may be one of the most difficult and challenging mission fields there is. Sometimes ministering to our peers can be more difficult than ministering to people in a third world country. That is true no matter what age you are.
