What do you have to say about religion? I don't really like that word myself but other people don't seem to think that way.

I too dislike the word religion. To me, Christianity is not a religion, anything but...religion in a broad sense is man's attempt to reach up to God through man-made laws and empty rituals. Jesus came to abolish that, and those who put their trust in Him have a relationship w/ the living God, no other religiion can say that. That's what distinguishes Christianity from everything else; the fact you don't reach up to God, it's impossible Jesus took care of that for us, He's our bridge. So when people ask me if I'm religious I say no, but I don't leave it at that...I go into a similar explaination like the one above to make clear the difference between religionand Jesus. Theyre not the same. Thanks for posting this question-something for all of us to think about :)

"true and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit the widows and orphans in their afflictions, and to keep oneself undefiled by the world"
"if anyone considers themselves religious but does not bridle his tongue, but decieves his own heart, this man's religion is worthless"
threskeia, the greek word for religion, means an external act of worship.
if you do not change your heart, your outward acts of worship are vain.
