Hi there! Thanks so much for coming to UnderTheOverpass.com. Chances are that you've read Under the Overpass, or someone has told you about our journey. Either way, I'm excited that you're here.
This site is for you. The hope is that it will do 3 things:
Connect: UnderTheOverpass.com is meant to be a place where you can connect with different people who have read Under The Overpass and felt the Lord move or lead them powerful ways. Use the Testimonies
feature on our bulletin board to post ideas / comments / reflections.
See other people's comments and how the Lord is moving in their life.
Learn more about Sam's and my journey through the streets of American
cities, and find out where we're at now.
Empower: God wants to use each of us in very real ways as we
live out loud for Him. What are some of the ways that God may be asking
you to get connected with other people or to make a difference in this
big world we live in? Want to get connected to some local Rescue
Missions and find out how you can help out? Go to the Rescue Missions page and check it out!
Encourage: Learn about just some of the ways that the Lord is using Under the Overpass to make exciting things happen in the world!
I know that there are billions of different places you could have
landed on the Internet. Know that I'm excited and prayerful about what
the Lord has in store for you because He directed you here.
My prayer is that you would evermore be willing to walk off the edge with Him!
Grace and Peace.
-Mike.

Life...
Thanks for coming to UnderTheOverpass.com. It means a lot to me that you were willing to take the time to visit this site.
The
fall has been a busy time for my wife, Danae and I. As I'm writing it's
5:00 in the morning, and my bags are packed. Today I'm heading to Tampa
Florida to join with the Rescue Mission there called "Path of Citrus
County." Pretty excited to help be a catalyst there and encourage
people in the surrounding areas to stand alongside of the staff at the
Rescue Mission.
I've had the chance to see many different
Rescue Missions over the past few months, and they're incredible
organizations. I'd recommend checking the one out in your local area.
To find if you have one, go to the AGRM (Association of Gospel Rescue
Missions) website (www.agrm.org), and search in their "Member Missions"
section.
Rescue Missions provide what for many is the only
legitimate path out of street life. Their holistic, Christ Centered
approach allows many to come to Life in Christ and to see themselves
made new. Pretty cool stuff. The most successful Rescue Missions are
those that are heavily supported by their surrounding communities. And
I'm not just talking finances. Of course money is important and they
have budgets to meet. The equally important need within a Rescue
Mission is the support of local churches and volunteers. These
organizations need us, those surrounding the Mission, to be willing to
come in and volunteer on a consistent basis, to serve as a mentor for a
man or woman in a rehabilitation program, to use our businesses to
employ recent Mission graduates as they get on their feet.
So,
let me encourage you, if you're trying to find a place to serve in your
local community, check out the AGRM (Association of Gospel Rescue
Missions) website (www.agrm.com) and give your local Mission a call.
Find out how you can get involved, and then leap off the ledge of your
comfort with Him!
